Registering to Vote

As of July 1, 2010, Indiana residents can now register to vote online at Indiana Voters.

You may register to vote in both the primary and general election if:

  • You are a citizen of the United States
  • You will be 18 years of age by the time of the next general election
  • You will have been a resident of your precinct for 30 days before the election and you are not currently in prison after being convicted of a crime

If you are homeless or have a non-traditional form of residence such as a shelter or RV, you may register to vote. For details contact the Board of Voter Registration.

In Indiana, you do not declare a party affiliation when you register.

No other person may register for you.

As of July 1, 2001, anyone wishing to vote MUST give their ten-digit Indiana drivers license number; or, if you do not have an Indiana drivers license, you may give the last four digits of your social security number or your ten digit Indiana identification card number.
