Nine members total. Five members are appointed by the Mayor to include: one representative from the Planning Commission, one representative from the Department of Planning and Redevelopment, two representatives of business (one manufacturing) in the Urban Enterprise Zone, and one resident of the Urban Enterprise Zone. Four appointments by the City Council including one member of the body whose district includes all or part of the Urban Enterprise Zone, one representative of a business located in the Urban Enterprise Zone, and two residents of the Urban Enterprise Zone.

Meetings: 6:00 p.m., Third Monday of every month in the Conference Room, Suite # 100 at 601 Franklin Street.

Urban Enterprise Association Resources

Business Grant Program

The Michigan City Urban Enterprise Association (MCUEA) is pleased to announce their 2018 Business Grant Program.

This grant is intended to provide funding assistance for existing businesses located within the Enterprise zone for exterior or interior rehabilitation of their property including machinery and equipment, signage and structural enhancements.

The MCUEA will reimburse 50% of the eligible costs up to $ 7,500 per grant.  There has been $ 75,000 appropriated for this program.

The business grant program is intended to assist in the overall plan for the City, promote visual improvements, historic preservation, structural integrity and boost the quality of the product and enhance the customer experience within the Michigan City Urban Enterprise Zone boundaries.

Neighborhood Beautification and Improvement Grant Program
The Michigan City Urban Enterprise Association (hereinafter referred to as MCUEA) has created a Neighborhood Beautification and Improvement Grant Program that’s intended to provide funding assistance and promote neighborhood engagement by encouraging neighborhood groups to participate in beautification projects in their neighborhoods. Qualified projects will be eligible for a 100% match up to a maximum of $4,000.
