Nine members total. Five members are appointed by the Mayor to include: one representative from the Planning Commission, one representative from the Department of Planning and Redevelopment, two representatives of business (one manufacturing) in the Urban Enterprise Zone, and one resident of the Urban Enterprise Zone. Four appointments by the City Council including one member of the body whose district includes all or part of the Urban Enterprise Zone, one representative of a business located in the Urban Enterprise Zone, and two residents of the Urban Enterprise Zone.

Meetings: 6:00 p.m., Third Monday of every month in the Conference Room, Suite # 100 at 601 Franklin Street.

Business Grant Program
The Business Grant Program is intended to promote visual improvements, historic preservation, structural integrity, boost the quality of product, and enhance the customer experience within the Michigan City Urban Enterprise Zone business boundaries.

Residential Improvement Grant Program
The Residential Improvement Grant Program is intended to aid low income residents who live within the Urban Enterprise Zone boundaries in improving and repairing their homes. This grant is for residents who own and occupy their homes. It is intended to cover improvements like roofing, siding, fencing, electrical upgrades and exterior house painting or other expenses that meet the Committee’s approval.

Mid-Town Grant Program
A grant program for Mid-Town district businesses located on Franklin Street from 11th Street to Coolspring. The purpose is intended to promote visual improvements, historic preservation, structural integrity, boost the quality of product and enhance the customer experience. It can be used for exterior and interior rehabilitation of the building or machinery and equipment used in the business. The Michigan City Urban Enterprise Association will reimburse 60% of eligible costs up to $2,500.
