NEW WATER RATES EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2022

On March 15, 2022, Governor Eric Holcomb signed into law House Enrolled Act 1002-2022, repealing the Utility Receipts Tax.  This tax was built into most of the rates charged by the Department of Water Works.  The Department collected the tax through the rates charged, and then forwarded the amount collected to the State of Indiana.

As a result, the Department had filed new, lower, rates with the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission.  These rates were approved at the end of June, and are effective for any bills generated as of July 1, 2022.  The Department will still collect sales tax for taxable customers.

The following links include the new rates, a copy of the bill stuffer being sent in the July and August bills, and a spreadsheet that will let you know how much you saved with the new rates.  Please contact our billing office at (219) 874-3228 with any questions.
