Firefighter lifts boy onto Fire Safety Education trailer

The Michigan City Fire Department operates its daily functions using taxpayer dollars allocated by the City of Michigan City. The additional community engagement work of the MCFD is made possible through community partnerships and the generous donations of individuals and businesses to the Michigan City Fire Department Donation Fund.

The Department is also trying to resurrect our MCFD Scholarship Program, which awards a $1,000, $750 and $500 grant to graduating Michigan City High School seniors.

To make a financial contribution to the MCFD Donation Fund or Scholarship Program, please deliver or mail a check or money order made out to the fund to:

Other Donations

The Michigan City Fire Department is always grateful for the community's generosity and we are often asked "what can I donate?".

  • Financial donations to our MCFD Donation Fund are the most effective way for you to support our education and prevention efforts in the community.
  • Donations of food from local businesses and restaurants are always a big hit at the stations. Gift cards to local grocery stores for our Firefighters to use to purchase groceries for our congregate meals are also greatly appreciated.
  • The MCFD does not need old board games, old clothes or used household items. Please make those donations to our local Salvation Army, Goodwill and/or Citizens Concerned for the Homeless.
