At Approximately 6:50 AM on December 27, 2017, a CJ2 Small Business jet crashed while attempting a landing at the Michigan City Municipal Airport. As the aircraft was landing the pilot made a decision to abort the landing and tried to take off again however there was not enough room. The aircraft then skidded through a fence, guardrail and across highway 20 approximately 300 feet into a farm field. There was reported little to no injuries however the aircraft suffered extreme damages losing a wing and landing gear. The names of the pilot and occupants are being withheld pending the conclusion of the FAA investigation.
The Michigan City Police and Airport officials are pleased with the response from all emergency personnel.
