[ARCHIVED] Department of Water Works - COVID-19

Water Board President Ken Behrendt and Superintendent Randall Russell has decided to follow Mayor Parry’s footsteps and follow the guidance of other governmental agency’s regarding the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Department of Water Works will be closed to visitors and the general public beginning Tuesday, March 17, 2020 until further notice at all locations, The Main office, 532 Franklin Street, Water Filtration Plant, 111 Lake Shore Drive, and Distribution Center, 701 Grand Street.

For your convenience, payments can be made by: 

  • Mailing checks or money orders to the Department of Water Works, PO Box 888, Michigan City, IN, 46351.
  • Placing checks, money orders, and/or cash into the night deposit box, of the main office location on the Northeast corner of 6th and Franklin.
  • Visiting emichigancity.com to make an online payment through Payments.

Please include all account information as well as a good contact phone number on all payments. Payments placed in the night deposit box will be retrieved at 8am the following business day.

If information is required from the Distribution Center, or you require parts and/or materials, please call (219) 874-6683 and you will be instructed on the procedure to obtain them. For general bulling matters call the office at (219) 874-3228 with any questions and/or concerns, our staff will be available from 8am-4:30pm Monday - Friday to asssit you.
